Laura Martin is a board-certified genetic counselor in Pediatric Genetics. Her primary role is to work with a multidisciplinary team to provide information and support to patients and families who are affected (or may be affected) with a genetic condition. She strives to interpret complex medical information in a way that is meaningful to her patients, to promote informed choices regarding genetic testing, to provide psychosocial support, and to identify appropriate patient resources.
Laura Martin joined the URMC Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine in November of 2006. Prior to her current appointment, she worked as a prenatal genetic counselor for Yale University Department of Genetics. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Cornell University and her Master of Science degree in Human Genetics from University of Michigan. During this time she completed clinical training in prenatal, pediatric, adult and cancer genetics. Laura Martin is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
