Biography

Research

My recent research mainly uses epigenetic approaches to address clinical needs in the areas of early disease diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy. The major focuses of my recent research projects are on two topics: 1) Regulation of DNA damage response via histone or non-histone methylation/demethylation modulation to change cellular radiosensitivity. 2) Regulation of multiple tumor suppressor genes by specific microRNAs through controlling epigenetic machinery during tumor progression. I work closely with translational research teams comprised of surgeons, pathologists, and oncologists in order to develop new molecular approaches and discover new biomarker for early disease detection, staging, and treatment. The goal achievement of my research will be of great importance for both basic research and translational medicine in future, as these results will provide insights into epigenetic regulation in cellular radiosensitivity, and allow major advances to be made in clinical applications of radiation therapy in cancer.
