Maria V. Karipidis Pouria, M.D.

Dr. Karipidis Pouria has joined UR Medicine's Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics. She specializes in non-operative sports medicine and her background expertise encompasses the care of pediatric athletes to the geriatric population. She has special interests in sports related concussions, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries, sport-related spine injuries, and the medical management of athletes.

A native of Fairport, Dr. Karipidis Pouria received her undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester. She earned her medical degree from AUC School of Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine and Pediatric residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Following her residency, Dr. Karipidis Pouria completed a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Rochester. Dr. Karipidis Pouria is a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, and the Hellenic Medical Society of New York. Dr. Karipidis Pouria has been a team physician for several high school, collegiate, and professional sports teams. She is the team physician for SUNY Geneseo. She has given many national presentations and authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Karipidis Pouria is a medical consultant for the Rochester Rhinos, the professional men's soccer team in Rochester, NY.
