Dr. Rauh is well known and highly regarded throughout western New York his comprehensive surgical expertise in management of diseases of the colon and rectum. He practices with a team of surgeons who are national leaders in robotic colon and rectal surgery. He is skilled in numerous surgical procedures. Areas of expertise include surgical management of cancer, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, prolapse, and anal conditions. He enjoys all aspects of his field including office practice, his time in the colonoscopy unit, and conducting major intestinal surgeries.
Dr. Rauh received his B.S. in Biology and M.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 1978 and 1982 respectively. He completed a surgical residency at the University of Rochester. Following surgical residency he went on to specialize in colorectal surgery by completing a fellowship at the Lahey Clinic in Boston in 1988. He received board certification in General Surgery in 1988 and Colon & Rectal Surgery in 1989 and maintains an assistant faculty position at the University of Rochester.
Recent research projects include the use of robotics in minimally invasive colon surgery and screening for anal cancer. Community activity includes the concept and development of ROCHESTERHEALTH.com, a J-Pouch support group for ulcerative colitis patients and diverticulitis seminars. Dr. Rauh is the recipient of several prestigious awards and honors. He has also authored numerous publications and book chapters.
