Dr. Julius Cheng is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center, primarily at Strong Memorial Hospital with the Kessler Trauma Center. Prior to coming to Rochester, Dr. Cheng completed a trauma/surgical critical-care fellowship at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center of the University of Maryland Medical System, in Baltimore. In addition, he earned his Master's in Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health.

Prior to his training in Baltimore, Dr. Cheng completed a residency in general surgery at University Hospital, part of Rutgers University-New Jersey Medical School, in Newark, N.J. Dr. Cheng earned his medical degree from Rutgers University-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and did his undergraduate work at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Cheng is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He is a member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. His areas of interest include injury and injury prevention, as well as minimally invasive surgical techniques.
