Laurie Donohue grew up in New Hampshire and survived a stint as a middle school teacher for seven years before finding her way to Dartmouth Medical School. She moved to Rochester to attend the Family Medicine residency program and graduated in 1994.

After establishing her clinical practice at Brown Square Health Center, she was a natural choice to become the faculty liaison to the Brown Square residents. She held this position from 1996 until 2005. In 1998, she increased her faculty commitment to become the Associate Residency Director. In 2005, she added to her list of responsibilities the medical directorship of Westside Health Services, the parent organization for Brown Square Health Center and a second site, Woodward Health Center.

Areas of interest include healthcare for the underserved, addressing healthcare disparities, and feminist spirituality. She lives in the city's 19th Ward with her partner and son.

At URMC, we believe that patients should be empowered to make the right decisions regarding their personal healthcare. To do so, transparency is critical. URMC partners with Press Ganey, to survey our patients about all aspects of their care experience. We are now putting this pertinent information at your fingertips by displaying star ratings for our providers along with anonymous patient comments on our website. This will help you make better-informed choices about how and with whom you seek care. Click here to learn more about the surveys used to generate this vital information.
