Professional Bio

Research Associate Professor of Medicie with extensive research experience in the pharmaceutical industry, clinical GLP laboratory and academic environments. My major areas of research expertise are in the evaluation of immune responses to malignant tumors as well as the development of cancer vaccines and therapies. I have extensive experience developing and implementing assays characterizing cellular and humoral immune responses for both preclinical and clinical studies.

Research Bio

My areas of domain expertise include T and B cell immunology, flow cytometric phenotyping of lymphocytes, human translational research studies in oncology and immunology, and data analysis. My experience with human tissues includes not only phenotypic characterization of cellular subsets by flow cytometry, but also the development and application of various in vitro functional immunological assays, which requires significant expertise, as cell numbers are typically limiting when working with primary human tissues. In particular, as the Technical Director of the Lymphoma Lab at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center from 2004-2013, I developed, applied, and published several T cell and B cell functional assays utilizing very small cell numbers from fine needle aspirates obtained during routine lymph node biopsies of lymphoma patients.

From 2013 to the present I have been a research team leader for the University of Rochester Center for Biodefense Immune Modeling, leading multidisciplinary experimental-modeling hybrid teams for this several NIH funded projects. I oversee the implementation of reproducibility and rigor requirements, data integrity, human subjects review requirements and certification and budgets. My responsibilities also include all aspects of experimental design, execution, and analysis. Lastly, throughout my tenure at the University of Rochester, I have successfully collaborated with a number of other researchers and produced several peer-reviewed publications.
