Dr. Ren received his AB in Biophysics from the University of California at Berkeley and his MD from the University of Chicago. He completed a pediatric residency and fellowship in allergy/immunology at Harvard Medical School, Children's Hospital in Boston and a second fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. He arrived in Rochester in 2001 to serve as the Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology and Co-Director Cystic Fibrosis Center and since been named, Director, Golisano Children's Hospital Outpatient Child Health Services.
Dr. Ren has served for over ten years on the Editorial Board, Pediatric Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. He is the co-editor of PREP Pulmonology and deputy editor for ACCP SEEK Pediatrics. In addition, has been an ad hoc reviewer for Pediatric Pulmonology, Chest, Pediatric Transplantation, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, Journal of Pediatrics, Pediatrics, and Pediatric Research.

Patient Care Bio
Dr. Ren specializes in children's breathing problems. His special expertise is in lung function testing in infants and young children, and Golisano Children's Hospital is one of the few places in the country capable of measuring lung function in infants and children of all ages. Conditions that Dr. Ren focuses on include cystic fibrosis, asthma, wheezy infants, bronchiolitis, and bronchitis. His approach to patient care is to work with patients and families through a step by step process to determine the cause of the patient's problems and then devise a treatment plan to take care of the problem. Throughout this process, the patient, the family, and the health care team work together to achieve the common goal of maintaining lung health. As Golisano Children's Hospital Director of Outpatient Child Health Services, Dr. Ren is responsible for ensuring that outpatient care adheres to the highest clinical standards and guidelines, provides the utmost in patient and family satisfaction, and operates at optimal productivity and efficiency.
