Professional Background

Research Interests: Cancer Control and Survivorship among Hispanics; Geriatric Oncology; Behavioral Medicine

Dr. Evelyn Arana is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Supportive Care in Cancer at The University of Rochester Medical Center. Dr. Arana is a social and behavioral scientist who conducts research on cancer prevention and control among Hispanics and older (age 65+) cancer patients and survivors. She has worked on a smoking cessation clinical trial for Hispanics in the U.S. and is currently focusing on research to reduce side effects from cancer and its treatments in Hispanics and older (age 65+) cancer survivors, primarily via exercise. As a first-generation Hispanic, Dr. Arana is very passionate about helping Hispanics with cancer have a better quality of life.
