Biography

Professional Background

Dr. Welch is an education specialist for the Community Consultation Program of the Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) and Training Director for LEND. She also serves as regional consultant for the New York Deaf-Blind Collaborative in association with SCDD. Dr. Welch's training is in the education of children and young adults who have multiple disabilities. She has particular expertise in educational program development for children and young adults who are deafblind and in curriculum development. Dr. Welch's research interests focus on communication options for individuals at presymbolic or early symbolic levels, and on health literacy.
