Patient Care Bio
Dr. Devine serves as the Associate Medical Director at Highland Family Medicine and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. He currently is the outpatient quality officer for the department of family medicine.
Dr. Devine joined the University of Rochester after completing his residency and fellowship there in 2009. He completed a faculty development fellowship that was based on modeling physicians towards an Idealized Medical Practice. His clinical interests include chronic pain, group visits, and bridging the gaps for underserved and minority populations.
Dr. Devine has been recognized for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to the department's mission for excellent patient care. In 2015, the Rochester Business Journal recognized him as one of the "Forty under 40" top professionals in the area. He has also received other recognitions as a Young Faculty scholar from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. In the past, he also received the "Highland Family Medicine Provider of the Year"
Dr. Devine continues to practice osteopathic manipulation technique, and is proud to be the first osteopathic faculty member in the department. He graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004 and also completed a transitional osteopathic internship in Philadelphia in 2005.
Dr. Devine's other special interests are in quality improvement, teaching, and business administration. During residency and fellowship he started to take classes at the Simon Business school in pursuit of his MBA. He plans to return to classes in the future to complete this degree.
In 2009, Dr. Devine founded and currently chairs the Quality Improvement committee at Highland Family Medicine. Currently the QI committee has designated many quality improvements to be implemented throughout the practice. Dr. Devine recognized during residency that the business aspect of medicine is ever more important in today's medical climate and he provides ongoing education to the residents on business related curriculum.
Dr. Devine also currently has scholarly interests. He has authored chapters and articles on topics such as Integrative Medicine, Pre-Participation in Sports, Medical Apps, and Tendinopathy. He also speaks to local media on health topics and has a spot on a local CBS affiliate news show as a sunrise health expert.
He takes great pride in the fact that he was born at Highland Hospital and grew up attending Wilson high school in the inner city of Rochester. His wife was also raised in Rochester, and attended East high school, his rival high school. Rest assured, that his marriage has helped provide excellent care to his patients regardless of what high school they attended. His other interests include, traveling, being outdoors, bicycling, and reading.
