Professional Background

Jennifer Thompson Stone is an Associate in the Department of Psychiatry. She earned a Master's in Humanities and Social Thought from NYU, and a Master's in English from U of R; she continues to work on her doctoral dissertation in English at U of R. Ms. Thompson Stone has extensive experience in academic research, writing, and editing. She taught academic writing and literature courses at U of R and American Public University for 9 years, and was an assistant editor at two commercial publishing houses. Her work in the Laboratory of Interpersonal Violence and Victimization has focused on providing written content, editorial assistance, and research and dissemination support for a variety of projects. Ms. Thompson Stone's primary interests include bridging systems--particularly civil legal aid and medicine--to promote health among vulnerable populations, innovative intimate partner violence intervention and prevention efforts, and therapeutic life writing.
