Professional Background

Vassilios Dimopoulos, MD joined the University of Rochester as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery, and is a full-time neurosurgeon at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca. He has completed a spine fellowship at University of Miami and has a strong passion for the treatment of spine disease and a special interest in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Dimopoulos also treats brain and spinal tumors, in addition to performing a broad range of cranial neurosurgery. He graduated from the University of Patras School of Medicine, after which he fulfilled his mandatory military service as a flight surgeon in the Hellenic Air Force in Greece. Dr. Dimopoulos completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Rochester and a fellowship in Spine Surgery at the University of Miami. He most recently led the minimally invasive spine program at the University at Buffalo and has published more than 40 research publications.
