Dr. Upham's clinical practice in family medicine focuses on taking care of entire families, from newborns to their parents, all the way to grandparents, aunts, uncles and even friends and neighbors. Understanding patients in the context of family is important because it allows Dr. Upham to know who they are in relation to a wider family structure. She has a special interest in caring for newborns, young children and their parents, as she is the mother of four children herself. This includes promoting breastfeeding and nurturing the parent-child relationship. Other areas of clinical interest include contraceptive planning of all varieties, ranging from IUDs, Nexplanon, and Depo to natural family planning. She places particular emphasis on discerning what patients desire for their own health, and then empowering patients to act on their plans. For each person, she regards both natural birth and natural death as processes to be respected, and not overly medicalized.

Dr. Upham trained here in Rochester in Family Medicine through the University of Rochester at Highland Family Medicine, and she attended medical school at the Medical School for International Health located in Beer Sheva, Israel, in conjunction with Columbia University in NYC. She has additional training in OBGYN in Stamford, Connecticut, and completed a chief year administrative fellowship at Highland Family Medicine. She calls the city of Rochester her home and enjoys caring for urban residents from diverse backgrounds.

With her other colleagues in the office, Dr. Upham performs basic office procedures including mole removals, wart cryotherapy (freezing), IUD insertions, Nexplanon insertions, pap smears, and joint injections. She also offers point-of-care urine tests, strep tests and pregnancy tests for patient convenience.
