Patient Care Setting

“It is essential to treat the whole patient. A complete health assessment and understanding a patient’s lifestyle allows for individualized therapy, whether it be medical or surgical.”

Areas of Expertise

• Bariatric and metabolic surgery
• Gallbladder and related diseases
• Abdominal wall hernias
• Paraesophageal hernias
• Gastrointestinal reflux
• Other gastrointestinal disorders

As a bariatric surgeon, I specialize in the surgical management of morbid obesity. Bariatric surgery is the most effective treatment, and results in significant reduction in obesity-related comorbidities, particularly type 2 diabetes. Obesity is a chronic disease without a cure, and a lifelong patient-surgeon relationship is required.
My interest and curiosity in bariatric and metabolic surgery is personal. I witnessed immediate family members struggle with morbid obesity, followed by obtaining remarkable benefits after they underwent bariatric procedures.

As these surgeries are performed through small incisions, they cause minimal trauma – resulting in a swift recovery for the majority of patients. I completed an intensive advanced laparoscopic surgery fellowship under renowned bariatric surgeons, Drs. Kelvin Higa and Keith Boone, who pioneered the laparoscopic “hand-sewn” gastrojejunal anastomosis. I am highly skilled in laparoscopic procedures, including but not limited to, roux-en-y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revisional bariatric procedures.
