Professional Background

Dr. Mehta is a physician-scientist who practices neuropathology and autopsy pathology. She completed residency in Anatomic Pathology and fellowship in Neuropathology at the University of California at Los Angeles (2010), and subsequently completed a visiting fellowship at the Indiana University Alzheimer Disease Center (2011). She has held prior faculty appointments at Jefferson Medical College and the University of Maryland and was recruited to the University of Rochester in 2015. Her prior research has led to changes in methods of regulatory testing of latex medical products and recently to updated industry guidelines and an FDA Public Safety Communication regarding the use of intravascular medical devices. Dr. Mehta's current investigations pertain to vascular/neurovascular diseases and the biology of stroke, and is funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH/NINDS).
