Biography

Professional Background

Dr. Osman Jilani majored in Biochemistry at Salisbury University on the Eastern Shore of Maryland by the Chesapeake Bay. He went on to complete his MD from St. George's University in Grenada and trained in Internal Medicine at Lincoln Medical Center in the South Bronx of New York City; he also took on the role of Chief Medical Resident in his final year of residency. Dr. Jilani joined the Hospital Medicine Division at University of Rochester in 2018 and has taken a head-on approach into multiple areas of interest. Dr. Jilani is a proceduralist on the Bedside Procedure Team; he is co-leading the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Awareness Committee (IDEA) within the division. Dr. Jilani strives on advocating for equitable and just care for his patients and is currently focused on starting a Sickle Cell Cohort within URMC. Dr. Jilani is also involved with both the local and international community with involvement in the Teen Health & Success Mentorship Program and volunteering his time with international medical relief missions to those with limited access to healthcare.
