Biography

Research

Dr. Sakano specializes Otology and Neurotology, treating the disorders of the ear and lateral skull base. She also has a research interest in the activity dependent changes of the auditory neural pathways.

She is a graduate of the M.D.-Ph.D. program at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA. She completed her internship in General Surgery and residency in Otolaryngology at the University of Washington. She completed additional training at University of California San Diego ACGME accredited Neurotology fellowship. She is board certified both in Otolaryngology and in Neurotology through the American Board of Otolaryngology.

- Hearing loss and Cochlear Implantation
- Cholesteatoma and chronic ear disease
- Tumors of the ear
- Tumors of the lateral skull base (e.g. acoustic neuromas, glomus tumors)
- Vestibular disorders including Meniere's
- Facial nerve disorders
