I developed a passion for women’s health while pursuing my undergraduate degree at Bates College in Maine. I explored women’s health and healthcare through a psychosocial lens and found myself asking questions such as, how do people relate spiritually, mentally, or socially to their sexuality and reproductive health? And, are our medical systems helping or hindering health? Of course, there are no perfectly resolved answers. But, while studying abroad in India, I discovered midwifery and felt as though a career as a midwife might give me the opportunity to engage such questions. The midwives I had observed in India were not only providing for the medical needs of the pregnant and birthing populations, but also were community educators seeking to holistically enrich their communities. I admired their role and leadership.

Prior to starting my education in midwifery at Yale School of Nursing, I spent a year working in nutrition and family planning at a community health center in Massachusetts. It was during that time that I became certain that the midwifery model needed to be available and accessible to all. It is an honor to be in a profession in which I can practice hands-on medical care while also offering counsel and education to individuals during some of the most beautiful and vulnerable moments of life. I hope to thoughtfully communicate with, advocate for, and empower the community in which I serve.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, swimming and biking (…leisurely), exploring towns, and sipping coffee. I also cherish time with friends, family, and new faces. I look forward to our first meeting and building a relationship from there!
