What to Expect at Your First ICRP Clinic Appointment

helping outThe initial ICRP clinic appointment takes approximately three hours, and includes the following:

  • Evaluation of your cognitive skills by the following ICRP disciplines:
    • Neuropsychology (NP): focused cognitive and mood assessment
    • Speech Language Therapy (SLP): focused speech and language assessment
    • Occupational Therapy (OT): focused functional assessment of daily living skills
  • You will meet with experts from each of the three specialties (NP, SLP, OT) for approximately 45 minutes each, with a 10-15 minute break in between. This will give them an opportunity to get to know you and evaluate your functioning. You will also be asked to complete a variety of written and verbal tasks.
  • At your clinic appointment, patients will be provided with the ICRP Patient Handbook, which outlines the various details and policies of the program. This packet also includes community resources that you may find helpful.
  • Upon completion of your clinic appointment, the ICRP team will meet to develop a specific cognitive rehab treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
  • You will then work individually with your assigned ICRP provider/providers for regular appointments to meet your identified treatment goals.
  • Please note that ICRP is not a diagnostic clinic. You will not receive a diagnosis and should look to your referring provider or primary care for a specific diagnosis and medical treatment planning.
