Our Approach

A powerful and comforting approach to Radiation Oncology.

There are two simple reasons our patients have a high level of trust in our care:

Location. In most cases, we can treat you in the setting that is most convenient for you. We offer radiation treatments at the Wilmot Cancer Institute within Strong Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital, the Cancer Center at Greece, Pluta Cancer Center in Henrietta, Sands Cancer Center in Canandaigua, Batavia Cancer Center in Batavia, Ann and Carl Myers Cancer Center in Dansville, and the Falck Cancer Center at Arnot Ogden Hospital in Elmira.

Radiation Oncology possesses a unique approach to cancer care.Multidisciplinary team. You will work with a team of doctors. These doctors have different backgrounds—such as radiation oncology, surgical oncology, and medical oncology—to provide the different perspectives necessary to design the best treatment plan for your cancer. Your radiation treatment plan will be led by a radiation oncologist with specialized expertise in your disease or cancer type.

Tumor Board conferences. In many cases, your treatment will be confidentially discussed at our Disease Specific Tumor Board. In this conference, we call upon the expertise of over a dozen doctors—including oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists—to fine-tune your treatment.

Advanced treatments and technology. The URMC ensures that you will have access to the very latest technology and treatments. As a research institution, we often provide innovative treatments through NCI approved clinical trials that will not be available at other hospitals.

The help you need during treatment and recovery. With our nurses, radiation therapists, nutritionists, dietitians, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and others, you will get all the support and assistance you need.
