March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month!
March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, an opportunity to celebrate the many contributions people with developmental disabilities make to our society. This week the campaign focuses on employment and the benefits of all people "working side by side" in the community. The Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities is committed to inclusive hiring, and one of the ways we do that is through NYS coordination of Project SEARCH®.
Project SEARCH is a nationally and internationally recognized program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who are interested in training and preparation for competitive employment. In the 2016-2017 program year, there are 11 high school and 4 adult programs operating across the state of NY. SCDD recently launched an interactive map that links to more information about each program. Check out the map and email Kaitlyn Richardson for more information about Project SEARCH near you.
