Advantage Federal Credit Union Collaboration 'Gives Back' for Patient Care

Advantage Federal Credit Union has donated $1,500 to Friends of Strong through its members' use of their Friends of Strong Debit Card.

Advantage FCU URMC Branch Manager, David Samuelson, presents a $1,500 check to Friends of Strong Council President, Rose Faucette, and Director, Sandy ArbasakThe program, which first began in February 2017, takes a portion of interchange income generated when Friends of Strong card holders make their everyday purchases and donates it back in support of a great cause.

“We’re very thankful for Advantage’s commitment to the community, and that they’ve chosen to establish a “Give Back” program in collaboration with our organization,” says Sandy Arbasak, director of Friends of Strong. “It’s incredible that in just the first year of this relationship, our shared members and friends have been able to passively raise this much for patient care initiatives and programs throughout Strong Memorial Hospital.”

Advantage Federal Credit Union is the University’s official credit union partner, and operates a full service branch within the hospital—providing convenience, along with friendly and familiar faces that are always ready to assist our faculty, staff, students and volunteers with their financial needs.

The funds from Advantage Federal Credit Union’s Give Back program help us provide a better healing experience for our patients, families and guests each and every day. Last year, we were able to provide a combined total of nearly $1 million to initiatives such as providing safe sleep infant swaddles to every baby born at Strong, wheel chairs for patients and guests, and sustaining comfortable family waiting rooms for patients undergoing life-saving surgeries.

Advantage Federal Credit Union was established in 1931 as the Teacher’s Credit Union serving the Rochester City School District. In addition to the University of Rochester, Advantage continues to serve major Rochester employers including still, the Rochester City School District, along with more than 70 other employee groups, and also serves individuals and their family members who live, work, worship, volunteer or go to school in the City of Rochester.
