1-9200/G9200 Inpatient Medicine in Psychiatry 

30 beds

This unit is for patients with acute medical surgical conditions and co-occurring psychiatric or behavioral issues that require special attention and expertise. The unit is staffed with med/surg nurses and Nurse Practitioners who have demonstrated an interest in working with patients with psychiatric/behavioral needs. Continuing education is offered to the nurses for both medical and psychiatric issues.

2-9200 General Adult Psychiatry

22 beds

This 22-bed adult psychiatry unit provides care and treatment for adult persons 18+ who require acute stabilization of intensive symptoms related to depression, psychosis, and bipolar disorder. Nursing care on 2-9200 is provided on a modified team model of nursing care and milieu management while utilizing a recovery theory framework designed to engage the patient through groups and interactive activities staged throughout the day.

3-9000 General Adult Psychiatry

23 beds

This 23-bed adult psychiatry unit provides care and treatment for adult persons 18+ who require acute stabilization of psychiatric disorders. We treat a spectrum of illnesses including mood disorders and psychotic disorders.  Nursing care on 3-9000 is provided by an interdisciplinary team of nurses, psychiatric technicians and a team of providers in order to create therapeutic and healing environment. Our goal of care is to get our patients ready to reacclimate to life outside of the hospital.

3-9200 Geriatric Psychiatry

11 beds

This unit has 11 geriatric/psychiatric beds, specializing in patients 55 and older with acute symptoms of psychiatric or mental health disorders. Our dedicated team consists of an attending physician, a nurse practitioner, residents, nurses, senior psychiatric technicians, and an activity therapist, all of whom contribute to providing comprehensive and compassionate care. We aim to achieve acute stabilization, maintain our client's independence, and provide education and a safe environment to promote healing. We use an evidence-based practice model that includes a comprehensive fall-with-injury prevention program that balances safety with mobility and autonomy.

4-9000 Child/Adolescent

27 beds

This unit provides care and treatment for children ages 5 -18 years with acute symptoms of psychiatric disorders or mental health issues. The unit uses an interdisciplinary evidence-based collaborative problem solving framework for working with the children and their families/caregivers in supporting their development of emotion regulation, social skills and flexibility while focusing on safety throughout the hospitalization.  The unit also uses an interdisciplinary collaborative model that utilizes components of Dialectal Behavioral Therapy to support adaptive coping skills and restabilization of acute symptoms while focusing on safety.

CPEP Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program

The Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program is comprised of interdisciplinary clinical teams-serving patients across the lifespan with psychiatric mental health conditions. Triage and Screening (10 interview rooms); 4 Extended Observation Beds / 2 Intensive Management Beds. Approximately 10,000 patients are evaluated annually. A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation is completed for each patient registered to this area. Intensive management of acute psychiatric conditions is often required. This is a dynamic environment with a highly skilled staffing contingent prepared to assess complex patient presentations to determine appropriate intervention and disposition.

Outpatient Psychiatry Clinics

Older Adult Services—Science Parkway

Provides specialized mental health care for our communities aging population, 65 years and older. This clinic also serves caregivers with psychiatric illness or younger individuals with brain disease.

Memory Care Program—Science Parkway

The Memory Care Program provides diagnosis, treatment, and care of neurodegenerative conditions that affect he elderly and the aging nervous system. The program specializes in treating older patients with Memory loss, Dementia, Cognitive dysfunction, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Adult Partial Hospitalization Program—West Henrietta Rd

A short-term treatment model for patients 18+, which can serve as an alternative to or transition from an inpatient psychiatric admission. Services include group therapy, individual therapist contact, medication assessment and management, safety planning and referral to mental health follow up.

Strong Ties Clinic—West Henrietta Rd

The Strong Ties Community Support Clinic is a team-based outpatient mental health clinic that serves adults who are coping with issues related to severe and persistent mental illness. This clinic includes Adult (18+) and young adult (15-28) services. The Clinic offers services such as group & individual therapy, medication management, an onsite pharmacy, and satellite laboratory services.  

Strong Ties ACT & Project ACT—West Henrietta Rd

The ACT teams utilize a multidisciplinary treatment approach to provide intensive outreach mental health services to individuals with serious mental disorders who do not readily access traditional clinic services in our community. The RN is responsible for conducting psychiatric assessments; assessing physical health needs; making appropriate referrals to community physicians; providing management and administration of medication.

Medicine in Psychiatry Service (MIPS)—West Henrietta Rd.

MIPS Primary Care provides care to patients 18+ who have a psychiatric illness who have little or no engagement in traditional outpatient medical care. The care offered includes but not limited to telephone triage, preventative care measures/vaccines, annual exams, health screens, and sick visits. Close collaboration with other psychiatrists, therapists, or CD treatment teams involved in the patient's care

Strong Recovery—West Henrietta Rd

Outpatient substance use treatment services available for persons 14 years of age and older. Strong Recovery programs include the Opiate Treatment Program (OTP), Adolescent Young Adult, Adult Outpatient Chemical Dependency, Stabilization Services which provide individual counseling, group therapy, medications for substance use disorder treatment such as methadone, Suboxone, Sublocade, Vivitrol. The RN works in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team, providing assessment, management & administration of medication and health screens.

Strong Minds—150 Chestnut St

Offers a variety of mental health services to address the diverse needs of adults age 18 to 65. These include treatment for: Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Adjustment Disorders, Trauma-Related Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Bipolar II Disorder, and Issues related to Grief and Loss.

Deaf Wellness Center—150 Chestnut St

The Deaf Wellness Center (DWC) provides mental health evaluation and counseling services to deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind, deaf disabled, late-deafened, and CODA adults (17 years or older) in New York state

Lazos Fuertes Clinic—150 Chestnut St

Care for Spanish speaking patients and their families who are 18+. Lazos team is bilingual and provide culturally competent services. Lazos Fuertes is the only bilingual, multicultural mental health clinic for Latin-X patients in upstate New York.

Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness—South Avenue

Care provided to patients birth - 18 years and their families. The Clinic offers services such as group & individual therapy and medication management. Nursing conducts telephone triage, nurse visits, patient/parent education and in general support to patients and their caregivers

Child Partial Hospitalization Service

Serves patients ages 12-18 yrs. old with acute mental health concerns but don't require an inpatient hospitalization. Program and can range between 1-3 weeks. School component offered during the school year through collaboration with RCSD. RNs are involved in running groups, assist with medication administration/education, conduct primary care screening and intakes, and telephone triage.
