Welcome to the Gene Targeting and Transgenic Core
Welcome to the Transgenic and Gene Targeting Core Facility at the University of Rochester Medical Center.This full-service core is supported by the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and is one of The Shared Resource Laboratories. The Core provides services in generating transgenic mice by pronuclear microinjection into zygotes, genetically engineered mice by gene targeting in embryonic stem cells (ESCs), and gene editing mouse models usingCRISPR/Cas9 approach to all UR as well as external investigators in a timely and cost-effective manner. In addition, the Core provides services on preserving your valuable lines by cryopreservation of sperms and to resurrecting mouse lines using in vitro fertilization (IVF) or embryo transfer. Additional services include rederivation to createpathogen-free mouse lines, developing molecular reagents for genetic engineering,full colony management services, and expertadvice on mouse genetics and breeding schemes.
The Facility - The Core consists of two mouse rooms and a procedure room on the second floor of the School of Medicine Building and a wet lab for molecular biology and cell culture in the Flaum Eye Institute. The Core is fully equipped to carry out the entire procedure of generating mouse models as well as related services.
The mission of the Gene Targeting and Transgenic Core is to provide expertise and assistance in the development and production of genetically engineered animal models of human disease, in a timely and cost-effective manner.
