Research Day The Department's Research Day is an annual event that features poster presentations from house staff, graduate students and other trainees. The day concludes with the keynote address. 35th Annual Research Day -- June 8, 2015 Highlights of our 2015 pathology research day Dr. Gregg L. Semenza, M.D., Ph.D, (at left) was this year's keynote speaker. He is a professor of pediatrics, radiation oncology and molecular radiation sciences, biological chemistry, medicine, and oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Later that day, Dr. Scott Kirkley, Director of our Residency Program, recognized Chief Resident Moritz Stolla and Associate Chief Resident Michael Maguilli for their service. Others recognized during the research day dinner included: Year-Out Student Fellow Jonathan Soh Departing Fellows Abraham Loo, Amanda Martin, and Michael Lunt Graduating Residents Mary Barrett, Elizabeth Denby, and Moritz Stolla Graduate Doctoral Degree Recipients Tulin Dadali, Nikesha Gilmore, TzuChieh (Kate) Ho, HsiMin (Jim) Hsiao, Michael Moses, Tristan Nicholson, Shanshan Shi, Julianne Smith, Joanne Soong, and Cuicui Wang. Other honors handed out included: Outstanding Academic Excellence by a First Year Student: Richard Bell Outstanding Research Publication by a Pathology PhD Student: Benjamin Plog Outstanding Contribution to the Pathology PhD Program: Christopher Farnsworth In addition, department Chair Dr. Bruce Smoller recognized Dr. Christa Whitney-Miller, associate professor in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (photo at left), for her work to transition our department to a full sub-specialty sign-out service in anatomical pathology at Strong and Highland Hospitals.
