Renewals

Most items may be renewed three times and will be auto-renewed by the library system. Each renewal period is equal to the original circulation period.

If you receive an overdue notice, your item has reached the maximum number of renewals. To extend the due date beyond that period, call (585) 275-3361, email  Answer Desk, or stop by the Answer Desk. You do not need the bring the item into the library to extend the use period. We will just need your UR ID.

Renewals may not be granted if:

  • Item has been requested by another patron
  • Item is needed for course reserve
  • Fees on your account are $25 or more

Overdue and Lost Items

Two overdue reminders are sent. After the second overdue notice, if the due date is not extended or the item returned, it is considered lost and replacement charges are billed.

Replacement costs for lost or damaged items:

The library system automatically charges a default replacement fee of $50. Fees are adjusted as follows:

  • Book - replacement fees are determined on an individual item basis by our Acquisitions staff.
  • Mac Laptop - $2,500
  • PC Laptop - $1,500
  • Charging Unit/Power Supply - $50

Replacement costs are cleared when a "lost" item is returned.

If you have $25 or more in fees or items that are more than one month overdue, your library privileges may be suspended.
