  • Submit requests in ILLiad, our resource sharing management system.
    • We will obtain materials from other libraries and content providers on your behalf.
    • Articles and book chapters available in Miner's print collection, will be scanned for you by library staff.
  • All articles and book chapters are delivered as a PDF to your ILLiad account.
    • Library staff cannot email a PDF of an article or book chapter to you. Most licenses for library resources require secure electronic transfer which does not include email transmission. Our resource sharing management system guarantees secure electronic transfer. For this reason, and because interlibrary loan requests are evaluated to ensure the library complies with copyright guidelines, use your ILLiad account to request articles and book chapters.
  • Books and other items, such as DVDs, are held at the Miner Library Answer Desk for pick up.
    • If you need someone else to pickup items on your behalf, you may designate a proxy borrower.
  • You will be notified via email when a PDF has been delivered to your ILLiad account or an item is ready for pick up.
    • It generally takes 1 - 2 business days to fill a journal article or book chapter request and approximately 7 - 10 days to fill a book request. However, many requests are filled sooner.
    • Articles and book chapters digitized from materials in our collection have a general turnaround of 24 hours, Monday - Friday.
  • Request statuses are available online in your ILLiad account.
  • You many also monitor checked out items, request renewals, download PDFs, and link directly to ILLiad by logging in to your Libary account via My Account.
  • Interlibrary loan,  ILLiad, accounts cannot be shared. They are individual accounts accessed with Active Directory (AD) credentials. The account holder is responsible for any ILL materials on their account that are overdue, lost, or damaged, even if they allowed someone else to handle the material.

Copyright Compliance

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement. U.S. Copyright Law also prohibits the copying of multiple chapters from a single book, multiple articles from a single journal issue, or an entire work.

We reserve the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in our judgment, fulfillment of the order would violate copyright law.
