About Me
Professional Background
In addition to his active medical practice and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Momot has held various professional leadership positions including Assistant Medical Director of the URMC Center for Primary Care from 2006-2008 and Penfield Family Medicine Site Medical Director from 2005-2010. He is also a longstanding current member of the Primary Care Senior Leadership Group, Chairman of the Quality Collaborative and active member of the Physician Compensation Committee.
Areas of professional interest include chronic disease management such as diabetes and asthma and preventative health maintenance. He specifically likes to integrate a "team" approach to health care which actively involves both the patient and the physician.
Dr. Momot is a graduate of Rush-Henrietta High School and was born and raised in Henrietta, New York. He is married with two beautiful children. Dr. Momot is very passionate about the outdoors and he loves to hunt big and small game and he is an avid salmon fisherman. He is also an organist and woodworker.

This was my last appointment with Chris (Momot) as I've moved/retired to Florida and will be meeting with a new PCP in a month or so. I recommended Chris to my son who is now one of his patients. He's been a superb PCP blending humor with an understanding of how old guys think about their health (not often). Clone him when you can.

I have been having an issue with prostatitis probably because of age. Dr. Momot has been wonderful in helping my navigate through this, and complex issues as a gay man, and make sure we address this problem. I am blessed with having Dr. Momot as my PCP, as he always takes time to really listen to my concerns and my situation, and focuses on a holistic and well thought out plan. Changing health as we age is frightening and difficult, and I know I can totally count on him as I navigate this journey with him there. I could not be more satisfied or wish for anything else.

Extremely happy with medical care provider Dr. Momot

1) Doc Momot was very methodical in determining the reason for my leg/hip/back pain, and used an x-ray to confirm the diagnosis of sciatica originating in a possible pinched nerve in the L4/L5 lumbar area. His ten-day prescription for graduated doses of prednisone (40/30/20/10/5 mg each for two days) seems to be already alleviating the worst of my pain. Time will tell If this resolves. 2) I had wondered if the "lump" appearing on the right shoulder/neck area might be more than a simple muscle pull and could be a lipoma. Without my offering my own suspicions, he concluded it most probably was a lipoma that we would keep an eye on in my regular semi-annual appointment.This Is the level of care I have come to expect and appreciate.

I'm sorry that I had to bring my son to the appointment, and that he was such a distraction. However, I really wish I had been listened to more intently. I came in for a recurring eye infection that I can't keep under control, and all I got for it was a prescription I've had before that didn't work on previous infections. I love Dr. Momot, and I understand he's busy, but I don't take going to the doctor lightly [...]. I only hope that in the future I can advocate for myself better so I am listened to and taken seriously.

I was rushed and when I wanted to tell Dr. Momot a little bit about previous similar issues and how they were treated, including a visit to a specialist, he would not let me talk, and I got upset as he said I should go to the hospital. I had good reasons why I did not want to do that until we could find out the results of the tests and if they warranted a hospital visit them I was willing and able to do whatever it took, Especially since I had been In the emergency room a year ago and all I did was wait and wait. And the fact that the two issues I was having, I have had before and no hospital visit was necessary I felt he was just trying to get me out of his office so he didn't have to deal with the issues. He seemed stressed and seemed to want to get out of the office. He raised his voice to me and said , "what do you want me to do". All I wanted was for him to act like a professional and have some empathy that. Was worried and upset. On my way home, he called me to see If the receptionist took care of everything and I said NO they did nothing. He promised he would be in touch with me first thing Monday morning to tie this all together, as I left on Friday without treatment or tests schedule. I thought that nice of him but realized he knew he had acted inappropriately. When Monday came, I waited until 1;30 PM and I received no call from him. So I called the office myself and was told Dr Momot was not even in the office on Monday and they didn't know anything about it. Once [...] took charge everything was done, tests results have come back and now I am following up with [...] and I am feeling better, but this is not because of Dr. Momot, he did nothing.

Dr Momot has been my doctor through numerous sudden, unexpected life-changing medical issues I've experienced. When I've felt alone and defeated his compassion and encouragement truly comforted me and inspired me to continue to strive to get my health back on track.I'll never forget an annual check-in from a few years ago - my diabetic marker barely moved in the right direction since my last visit and I was extremely frustrated and depressed. He said to me, "you've got a lot going on, I know it's not easy, and I'm really proud of you." That had me in tears in the parking lot, just as I am writing this now. That small sentence meant so much to me. I felt seen for my daily struggle that no one else can see, for the frustration I still feel for having to live with this disease, and for my efforts despite what my blood work showed.

Under medications, make a distinction between prescription drugs and OTC/supplements, preferably with a separate list. Also allow for acknowledging "as needed" for some of the meds. For example, I have a prescription for Omeprazole, but only need it periodically. I would designate my Omeprazole "as needed" if such an option was available.

Dr comes in and says I have 15 mins- not completely with dr but also have time with nurse. I Rush to get out problems. Quick listen to chest. Dr quickly explains who he's going to call to do what. I'm done.

Dr. Momot deserves special recognition. I truly feel that I can talk to him, and I'm more than just a number. Many other doctors at the UR of Medicine can learn from him, especially the dermatology department. Additionally, I was having trouble getting an appointment with a specialist regarding my Kidney. I called the office and the voice mail indicated I would receive a return call within a week. After relaying that message to Dr. Momot, I literally received a call within 24 hours and had an appointment. That is a doctor that cares.

Shawna is an excellent nurse that always remembers my issues and listens carefully to any new concerns. Dr Momot is an A+ PCP who is always thorough and had scheduled an X-ray at the annual visit for painful hip. X-ray done in bldg and within 10 minutes he called me with results. Great caring doctor.
