Susan Guffey is a Nurse Practitioner with more than twenty years of experience in Primary Care. She received her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Rochester and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Binghamton University, SUNY. She earned her national board recognition as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2003 and has remained certified ever since.
Philosophy
Susan takes a holistic approach to healthcare and the care of her patients. She enjoys working with each patient individually to achieve optimal health at each life stage. Her care focuses on health promotion and healthy lifestyle to prevent disease and disease progression.
Special Interests
In addition to Family Medicine, Susan’s interests include health promotion and disease prevention and diabetes.
On a Personal Note
In her free time, Susan enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband, son, and daughter, as well as their dog and cat. She enjoys volunteering with local groups and being active on PTAs at her kids’ schools. She enjoys travel, local hikes, kayaking and cross-country skiing in the winter.

I was nervous when my PCP of 15+ years retired (Dr Terwilliger) as I felt comfortable with her care - I have anxiety around medical appts and procedures. This was my first appt (an annual physical) with NP Susan Guffey and she eased that anxiety. She is straight forward and through but still while being compassionate and kind. She is clearly knowledgeable and thoroughly addressed all my medical concerns. These are the qualities I look for in a PCP and I am glad she is mine.

When Dr. Terwilliger retired I was assigned to Susan Guffey N.P. This visit was unplanned. When I called for an appointment I was given one that day. I was very pleased with her knowledge and how thorough she was. She listened to me, addressed my concerns, included me in the plan. I was very pleased with the rapport I felt after meeting her.

Susan Guffey was truly outstanding. Wonderful to speak with and clearly knows what she is doing. She identified my issue quickly after her examination and was 100% correct with her diagnosis. Her treatment plan was spot on. I could not ask for anything more. Her and my primary doctor Dr Dobryznski are the best of the best. I'm very lucky

Pulsifer Associates has always maintained the highest of professional standards for all doctors and staff throughout the 40 years that I have used their services. Their practicing standards should be a training manual for all URMC offices, medical and clerical alike.
