| The Cardiovascular Group of the University of Rochester Medical Center and Strong Health is dedicated to the triple missions of the University; state of the art clinical care, high quality teaching of students and health care professions at all levels and cutting edge basic and clinical research. By building on the strengths of both the university community and the university hospital environment, we believe we are uniquely poised to excel in each of these arenas. The Clinical Cardiology Group is the backbone of the clinical patient care effort and provides state of the art clinical cardiology care. By combining a large clinical primary cardiology office base both locally and in the Western New York region with a tertiary referral center, the clinical group has been able to provide the best cardiac care available to all our patients. We are committed to compassionate patient care as well as to timely and helpful consultative help for our extensive referral base of primary care physicians. By utilizing the strengths of world class institutions like the University of Rochester and Strong Memorial Hospital, we are able to provide care, which rivals any in the world to both our urban and rural populations alike. A major component of our efforts also centers on the training of students, residents, and cardiology clinical and research fellows. By utilizing a full time academic faculty with significant research interests and abilities and the clinical and research resources of the University and the Hospital, we are able to provide training programs that produce well rounded clinical and research cardiologists. Our graduates are routinely sought out for top positions in both clinical and research institutions in the region and around the nation. Our clinical and basic research efforts set us apart uniquely from other institutions in the region as well. The Center for Cardiovascular Research , part of the University of Rochester Aab Institute for the Biomedical Sciences, has brought together some of the top scientists in the field of vascular biology and cardiac diseases. This program has been instrumental in developing our basic and translational research efforts, which are truly bringing the lab bench to the bedside. Currently the CCVR has $3.8 million in annual research funding. Our patients profit from this research association, since they have access to the newest available treatments, many times before they available on a more general basis, both in the region and nationally. For all these reasons, we believe that the cardiovascular group of the University of Rochester and Strong Health are uniquely qualified to carry out our missions of superb patient care and groundbreaking, world-class research, while training the best clinical practitioners and research leaders for the 21st century.
