CME
The Center for Experiential Learning is committed to developing, organizing, and implementing quality educational activities through a collaborative process with physicians, nurses, and other allied health care professionals. In assessing the continuing medical education needs of the community, the CEL Office offers diverse, multi-faceted educational activities, reinforcing an awareness and the importance of lifelong learning, self-motivation, self-assessment and the development of self-learning skills.
Continuing medical education activities can incorporate basic science concepts, clinical practice, recent literature, and scientific research perspective on the best currently accepted clinical practices. Types of activities mounted include, but are not limited to, didactic presentations and seminars, hands-on skill workshops, faculty development, regional lecture series, grand rounds, videoconferencing and enduring materials, including Internet and on-line interactive materials.
Continuing medical education activities are designed to foster and promote the University of Rochester Medical Center and Strong Memorial Hospital's mission "to improve health through caring, discovery, teaching and learning." Under the guidance of course directors, and across potentially all content areas served by our faculty, CME activities address the interdisciplinary needs of clinicians, primary care physicians, specialists, clinical sub specialists and other health care professionals. CEL strives to maintain standards by constantly evaluating the balance of approaches to meet institutional requirements as well as the perceived and expressed needs of our learning audience.
