Obstetric Course Topic: Coagulation Defects and Blood Disorders in Pregnancy

Article 1: VON WILLEBRAND DISEASE IN PREGNANCY

In addition to the overarching learning objectives, upon completion, the learner also will be able to:

  • Describe the basic pathophysiology and clinical manifestations of von Willebrand disease.
  • Explain the care plan for patients with von Willebrand disease during pregnancy and delivery.
  • List two useful screening questions to identify patients with possible inherited bleeding disorders.
  • Interpret the fetal heart rate tracing. (Obstetric and Fetal Monitoring subscribers only)

Article 2: SICKLE CELL DISEASE AND PREGNANCY

In addition to the overarching learning objectives, upon completion, the learner also will be able to:

  • Describe epidemiology and genetics of sickle cell disease.
  • List complications associated with sickle cell disease during pregnancy.
  • Present a plan of care for sickle cell disease and acute sickle crisis during pregnancy.
  • Interpret the fetal heart rate tracing. (Obstetric and Fetal Monitoring subscribers only)

 

Gynecology Course Topic: EVALUATION OF MALE INFERTILITY

In addition to the overarching learning objectives, upon completion, the learner also will be able to:

  • List the various components of initial evaluation of male infertility.
  • Explain semen analysis and current reference ranges from the World Health Organization.
  • Describe the evaluation of male infertility that includes a physical examination, endocrine evaluation, ultrasonography, and genetic screening.
