Journey to Mbarara - March 2011

In March 2011, Dr. Woods joined colleagues from UCLA and the not-for-profit, Medicine for Humanity, to journey to Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Mbarara, Uganda, to help develop on site and global long-distance learning in obstetrics and gynecology. The video and photos below help chronicle his trip.

In March 2011 I joined colleagues from UCLA and the not-for-profit, Medicine for Humanity, to journey to Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Mbarara, Uganda, to help develop on site and global long-distance learning in obstetrics and gynecology. My motivation was to create web-based obstetric learning centers in Uganda for Peri-FACTS, and to demonstrate how Peri-FACTS might provide sustainable obstetric education for the faculty, nurses and residents. I hope you enjoy this video chronicling my trip. -Dr. James Woods

Simulation at University Hospital in Uganda

Dr. Woods helps instruct a group of medical students in the University simulation skills lab where, with a mannequin, they reviewed shoulder dystocia, breech delivery, and also observed one instructor using a beef heart as a simulated uterus to demonstrate how to perform and repair a transverse uterine incision.
