The Rochester Regional Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (RRCASD) was established in 2007 as 1 of 6 centers in New York State, coordinated by the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities located at SUNY Albany. The RRCASD provides information, education, and technical assistance to community professionals, schools/agencies, caregivers, and individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) we seek to build region-wide capacity to better meet the needs of individuals with ASD and to improve outcomes.
We serve the following counties in Central and Western New York: Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Livingston, Monroe, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates.
The RRCASD is located at the University of Rochester's Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) in the division of Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. The community focus of the RRCASD complements the various services and research activities of the SCDD and the division, which includes a wide variety of community education resources to increase understanding of ASD and evidence-based practices. In addition, each year we offer Technical Assistance to specific groups of professionals, caregivers, and/or individuals with a ASD based on areas identified through our Community Needs Assessment to address gaps in information or resources within the targeted group.
To keep our region informed of our activities and of the latest information on locally conducted ASD research, we disseminate a Newsletter twice a year, as well as post information on our website. We also provide Information & Referral services to assist callers in identifying ASD resources within their community, And we provide a link to local, regional, state and federal ASD resources.
