Rochester Regional Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders

RRCASD LogoThe Rochester Regional Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (RRCASD) was established in 2007 as 1 of 6 centers in New York State, coordinated by the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities located at SUNY Albany. The RRCASD provides information, education, and technical assistance to community professionals, schools/agencies, caregivers, and individuals with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to build region-wide capacity to better meet the needs of individuals with an ASD and improve outcomes.

We serve the following counties in Central and Western New York: Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Livingston, Monroe, Onondaga, Ontario, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates.

The RRCASD is located at the University of Rochester's Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) in the division of Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. The community focus of the RRCASD complements the various services and research activities of the SCDD and the division, which includes a wide variety of community education resources to increase understanding of ASD and evidence-based practices. In addition, each year we offer Technical Assistance to specific groups of professionals, caregivers, and/or individuals with an ASD based on areas identified through our Community Needs Assessment as gaps in information or resources within our region.

To keep our region informed of our activities and of the latest information on ASD research within our region, we disseminate a Newsletter twice a year, as well as post information on our website. We also partner with the Information & Referral services within the division to assist our consumers in identifying ASD resources within their community, and we provide web links to local, regional, state and federal ASD resources.
