There’s an important challenge in clinical research that we all need to think about: African Americans and Latinos are under-represented in clinical research.
That’s a significant concern. Because some medicines and treatments work differently depending on a patient’s ethnicity. And without the involvement of African Americans, Latinos, and other ethnic groups, researchers won’t be able to gather the information they need to determine the best ways to keep these individuals healthy.
The University of Rochester Medical Center is working hard to change that. We’re collaborating with community leaders. We’re leading community initiatives to provide better healthcare for everyone. We’re getting the word out on the importance of clinical research. And we’re making sure everyone understands how we protect your safety, your privacy and your health.
