How to Take Part in Clinical Research
You’ve heard about how clinical research is helping to find better ways to treat and prevent disease. Now you’d like to get involved. So what are the steps for doing that?
- Look at the list of clinical research studies going on now at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
- You may see some studies on a disease or condition that you or someone you care about is facing —like diabetes, high blood pressure or cancer. Or, you may notice an interesting study that is looking for healthy volunteers. Click on the studies that you would like to learn more about.
- Read more about the study. Based on that information, does it sound like a study that interests you? One in which you might like to participate?
- Look at the study’s requirements for participation. See if you qualify based on your age, sex, health and other criteria.
- If you qualify, contact the study coordinator or investigator to find out more about participating.
If, after you browse the “open trials” list, you have questions about a specific trial, call the coordinator in the trial listing.
If you want to participate in health research but do not see a clinical trial or study listed in the your area of interest, call (585) 275-8762 or by e-mail CallCenter@urmc.rochester.edu
If you are from industry, the Office of Corporate Alliances provides a link between the private sector and research at the University of Rochester. Visit the Corporate Alliances website for more information.
