What is Intracerebral Hemorrhage?
Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a type of stroke. It occurs when a damaged blood vessel bursts, causing bleeding in the brain. It can affect people of all ages.
What Are the Symptoms of Intracerebral Hemorrhage?
- Severe headache
- Nausea and vomiting
- Weakness or numbness in your face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body
- Difficulty seeing, talking, or understanding
- Difficulty with balance or walking
- Dizziness or loss of coordination
- Loss of consciousness
What Causes Intracerebral Hemorrhage?
There are many causes of ICH. Some of these causes include:
- Hypertensive hemorrhage, caused by chronic high blood pressure
- Arteriovenous malformation, caused by congenital defects
- Amyloid angiopathy, caused by the weakening of blood vessels due to aging

You will be evaluated and treated by our expert stroke neurologists. Our experts will review your past testing results, assess your current neurologic deficits, counsel you about stroke risk factors and stroke prevention, and address any follow-up testing, referrals, or care needs.
Findings from the evaluation will also be communicated to the referring physician.
