When Should Your Child First Visit a Dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend a child’s first dental visit at 12 months of age, and then every 6 months for checkups and other needed services.
Is Your Child Nervous or Afraid?
- We understand! We strive to make the experience positive. Parents are welcome to sit with and support their child.
- To help young or anxious children, we can use laughing gas and medicines to help children accept dental care.
- We can treat children in the operating room at Strong Memorial Hospital with the help of pediatric anesthesia doctors.
Toothache or a Tooth Injury?
Some kids can't eat or sleep, and even miss school because their teeth hurt or they have an infection. If your child is in pain or has had an injury, please bring your child to Eastman Dental. We accommodate emergency visits for patients who need help right away. We’re open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

We participate in many insurance plans, including Medicaid and Child Health Plus, which cover many of the services your child may need.
Head Start Preschool
Eastman Dental Center provides dental exams required to enroll in ABC Head Start programs.
New York State Dental Health Certificates
Pediatric dentists at Eastman Dental provide dental exams necessary under the new law for all children entering kindergarten and grades 2, 4, 7 and 10.
