Dr. Mary Gail Mercurio is the Clinical Director in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She also co-directs the dermatology curriculum for 1st and 2nd year medical students.
Dr. Mercurio’s clinical interests in dermatology have focused on skin and hair disorders afflicting women with particular interest in the cutaneous effects of hyperandrogenism, androgenetic alopecia, hirsutism, and adult acne. She works closely with obstetrics and gynecology colleagues collaborating in a joint clinic for women with a variety of skin conditions including vulvar skin disorders. She is the director of the dermatology clinical trials unit, and has been the principle investigator in trials pertaining to a variety of dermatologic conditions including psoriasis, vulvar dermatitis, acne, tinea capitis, and melanoma. Her research is supported in part by the National Institutes of Health.
