About Us
Highlights and Activities of the Family Medicine Department
Residency
This program is one of the oldest Family Medicine residencies in the U.S. The Department combines the rigors of a university setting with the practical and friendly character of a community hospital.
Patient Care at the Family Medicine Center
The Lovejoy Family Medicine Center is home to Highland Family Medicine, an outpatient primary care facility where faculty, residents, and other healthcare providers see their patients. The Family Medicine Center is also home to Cornhill Internal Medicine, Highland Apothecary, Strong Lab Services, and Strong Behavioral Health.
Global Health
In 2002, the Department of Family Medicine created a Global Health Track. Faculty, residents and community members travel to a rural community in Honduras twice per year.
Research
The faculty in the URMC Department of Family Medicine are some of the most prolific researchers in Primary Care topics. Our Family Medicine Research Programs building is home to the Center for Communication in Healthcare.
Medical Student Education
Our faculty and residents teach University of Rochester medical students in both
outpatient and inpatient settings. Fourth-year electives for non-UR medical students are also
available.
Fellowships
Fellowships are offered in Maternal Child Health, Faculty Development, and Sports Medicine.
