Neural Control of Dexterous Finger Movements
Posted on: Thursday, January 28, 2010.
Research projects include, but are not limited to:
- Variation in the throughput from single cortico-motoneuronal cells to electromyographic activity
- Dimensionality reduction in the cortico-muscular system controlling the hand
- Substitution of biomimetic multichannel intracortical microstimulation to repair deficits resulting from focal nervous system injury
- Closed loop control of dexterous manipulation with a prosthetic hand
Specific Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Systems Neuroscience or a related discipline (e.g. Motor Control, Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, or Biomedical Engineering).
- Previous research experience in the following is desirable:
- chronic electrophysiological recordings from behaving animals
- multi-electrode recording
- video motion analysis
- electromyography
- MatLab programming
- upper level training in mathematics, engineering or computer science
