Clinical Services - Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center
The Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center, located at Strong Memorial Hospital, is a special unit dedicated to the care of patients and their families, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular disease, including:
- Stroke
- Carotid artery disease
- Cerebral aneurysms
- Cerebral hemorrhages
- Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIA)
- Vascular Malformations (an abnormal blood vessel or group of blood vessels)
We also participate in research to discover improved treatments and lower the incidence of stroke and cerebrovascular disease.

Our Team
Our specialists include neurologists, a neurosurgeon who specializes in cerebrovascular surgery, and the region’s only interventional radiologists. Together, this team offers patients a full range of treatments, from the latest clot-dissolving drugs to innovative surgical procedures to advanced radiologic techniques.

The Department of Neurology participates with Blue Choice, Preferred Care, Medicare, Medicaid, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rochester health plans. We accept cash or check only for all applicable co-payments and personal balances due at the time of service. If you must cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. You will be charged a $25.00 fee if you miss an appointment.
Referrals
Most patients are referred to the center by their primary care physician.
