Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center
URMC Neurology Clinical Services
The Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center, located at Strong Memorial Hospital, is a special unit dedicated to the care of patients and their families, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular disease, including:
- Carotid artery disease
- Cerebral aneurysms
- Cerebral hemorrhages
- Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIA)
- Vascular Malformations (an abnormal blood vessel or group of blood vessels)
We also participate in research to discover improved treatments and lower the incidence of stroke and cerebrovascular disease.
Our specialists include neurologists, a neurosurgeon who specializes in cerebrovascular surgery, and the region’s only interventional radiologists. Together, this team offers patients a full range of treatments, from the latest clot-dissolving drugs to innovative surgical procedures to advanced radiologic techniques.
Most patients are referred to the center by their primary care physician.
