Twice Acting Chair of the Department. Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the School of Medicine and Dentistry from 1998 to 2002. Dr. Arvan was responsible for the consolidation of the URMC Labs into one efficient organization. His clinical interests have been in both the medical and administrative aspects of laboratory operations, with a particular interest and expertise in the appropriate and cost-effective utilization of diagnostic tests. He continues as advisor to the Department and School on administrative and academic issues.
