Leon A. Metlay, M.D.Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Autopsy Pathology, Pediatric Pathology URMC Labs Dr. Metlay's clinical interests include general autopsy pathology, in particular the use of autopsies for diagnostic quality assurance; pediatric pathology, especially perinatal and placental pathology; infectious disease pathology and infection control procedures; and the use of computers in pathology. QualificationsM.D., University Pittsburgh 1977 Research OverviewRecent research has involved the use of morphologic techniques, including histomorphometry, to make anatomic correlation with clinical and basic research in obstetrics, neonatology, and radiology. Most recently, this has involved study of human chest wall, abdominal wall, and breast morphology in relation to ultrasound transmission, study of fibronectin production in bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and study of vascular growth factors in neonatal lung disease.
