Seychelles Child Development Study

Emeir Duffy, PhDEmeir Duffy, Ph.D.

Dr. Duffy is currently a lecturer in Human Nutrition within the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Ulster. She is actively involved in research at the Northern Ireland Centre for Food and Health (NICHE) where she forms part of the 'Seychelles Child Development Nutrition Study' research group, investigating methylmercury toxicity during pregnancy. Dr. Duffy was awarded a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences specializing in Immunology, Nutritional Biochemistry, Trace Elements, and Rheumatology from the University of Ulster at Coleraine (UUC). She obtained a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (UUC) and is also a graduate of the Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science program from the Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology, Ireland. She is a member of the Northern Ireland Lupus Research Group where she is actively involved in research on the autoimmune condition of systemic Lupus Erythematosus. Other research interests include vitamin D, PUFAs and nutritional immunology.
