I am an attending emergency physician and Associate professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). I serve as the Associate Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director and direct the Deaf Health Pathways humanities elective at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. My research interests lie in addressing health disparities among marginalized populations, particularly Deaf American Sign Language (ASL) users. I am fluent in ASL and extensively involved in the Rochester Deaf community. I work with the Rochester community non-profit organization, Partners in Deaf Health, focused on promoting awareness of the healthcare needs of culturally Deaf individuals. Through my work, I have aimed to identify barriers to healthcare and clinical practices that may contribute to health disparities among Deaf individuals and develop innovative solutions that may reduce existing disparities. As the associate director of the residency program and the director of the Deaf Health Pathways elective, I have extensive experience mentoring medical students, residents, and researchers, particularly in topics related to Deaf health.
