eRecord and ePartner: For Community Providers and their Staff

The University of Rochester Medical Center has transitioned to an integrated electronic health record system. eRecord is currently in place at both Strong Memorial and Highland Hospitals, as well as all URMC ambulatory practices. URMC is currently piloting eRecord with several community practices.

New Login Process for ePartner/eRecord

Important Security Requirement

"Two-Factor Authentication" is a requirement for all URMC faculty, staff, vendors, and community partners like yourself to ensure the privacy of patient information. Like most institutions in America, we are experiencing increasing and persistent attacks on our secure network. More sophisticated methods are needed to verify the identity of those logging into our clinical systems to keep all of our information safe and secure.

You and your staff will need to verify your identity a second time when you access ePartner or eRecord, or when you connect to the URMC network through VPN. This two-factor authentication technology is very similar to that used by banking and financial institutions, where you enroll a device (mobile phone, landline phone, tablet) and indicate a method to verify your identity (phone call, text message, or through a smartphone app). Enrollment is required to ensure uninterrupted access to ePartner or eRecord.

Immediate Action Required: Change URMC Password

To continue to safeguard online information, URMC recently instituted a new password policy, which requires anyone with a URMC password to ensure it meets new requirements, and to change it annually thereafter. This impacts community providers who use a URMC password to login to our clinical systems (eRecord, ePartner, eView), use URMC email, or connect to the URMC network via VPN.

All community providers - and their staff - with a URMC password will need to change it by Date TBA. Click here to get started. If your password is not changed by Date TBA, you will be prompted to enter a new password the next time you connect to our network. **Important: You will also need to reset the passwords on your mobile device for URMC email, wireless, and VPN in order for each to function.

ePartner: View Information on Your URMC Patients

ePartner iconePartner is a view-only version of eRecord that allows you and your staff to view information on your patients’ URMC hospital stays, as well as access their tests and image results. Depending on how you work with URMC and our affiliates, we will offer to you either a complete view of the inpatient chart, or a scaled back view that provides quick and convenient views of lab results. A brief 20-minute online training session is required before using ePartner.

Expanding eRecord into our Community

URMC is currently partnering with several community practices to pilot our extension of the eRecord ambulatory system. Our intention is to make this offering available to other community practices in 2014. If you have any questions about this initiative, please contact Nancy Bales at 758-2033.
