EMR Update: Interacting with eRecord
URMC’s eRecord promises to bring a state-of-the-art electronic medical records system that will streamline workflow and increase efficiency for all health care providers.
At a minimum, eRecord will match the functionality referring/community physicians currently have with the clinical systems at Strong Memorial and Highland hospitals. Here is a quick summary of what you can expect:
- Referring physicians (for lab work, tests, etc.): eRecord will replace CIS Remote, and you will continue to be able to review results on your patients. If you choose, you’ll also have the ability to receive email alerts when results become available. The system may eventually expand to allow providers to electronically order tests.
- Credentialed physicians with admitting privileges: eRecord will replace CIS and/or paper charts in most locations, and you will have access to the complete patient electronic medical record.
Training will be required before access to the system is granted; many sessions will qualify for CME credits. The type of training – classroom vs. online – and number of hours will vary depending on your specific use of eRecord.
